I will be the guest vocalist with Joe Gransden and his amazing big band Monday, June 15th. This classic Jazz orchestra has been drawing some huge crowds to Cafe 290 on Mondays. I'll be singing just one tune, but trust me you won't want to miss it! I can't wait! The music is fantastic, Joe is a treasure and there's nothing like it in Atlanta. I've been to both prior shows and was blown away. How often do you get to hear a 16 piece big band in a club? It's like traveling back in time. $8 cover.

This special evening performance will feature compositions written in response to the struggle for civil rights by such noted jazz musicians as Max Roach, Charles Mingus and John Coltrane, as well as contemporary expressions by Bobby McFerrin and other composers of our time.

Artist-in-residence Dwight Andrews will lead the Atlanta Jazz Chorus; musicians include nationally recognized vibraphonist Jay Hoggard, Moffett Morris, Melvin Jones, Che Marshall, and Atlanta's own Gary Motley.

I'll have to miss this one, but it will be a great evening of music to enjoy at the High.
